Jean Mermoz crossed continents to connect worlds that knew nothing of each other. On a far more modest scale, Opération Mermoz is my own way of doing the same: setting off, looking closely, learning a language or a landscape, then coming back with something to tell.
01 · Notebooks
Every expedition leaves behind notes taken on the spot — a word of vocabulary, a certain light, a sentence overheard along the way. These notebooks are the raw material for everything that follows.
02 · Cultures & Languages
A new language, a different way of working the land or inhabiting a landscape: these are windows that force you to reconsider what you thought was settled back home.
03 · Expeditions
A ridge, a summit, a multi-day trek: physical effort always brings you back to the essential, and it's often up there that the clearest ideas take shape.
04 · Flight
Seeing mountains and valleys from a small aircraft permanently changes how you look at a territory you thought you already knew well.
